Work Smarter, Not Harder

It took me a couple years to figure out that if I worked a bit smarter, my job would become way easier. At first, I would spray the product in the shower and right away start scrubbing it down. I used my strength and went to town and would be completely exhausted by the end of the cleaning. I thought, “There has to be an easier way”.

Youtube

I searched, How to be more efficient in cleaning? What is the proper cleaning process of the entire home? How to make my cleaning business easier? I stumbled upon a Youtube channel called ‘Ask a Housecleaner by Angela Brown’ and I quickly watched all of her content. She introduced me to housecleaning efficiency and my life was forever changed. A lightbulb went off. I need to systematize my cleaning process.

Podcasts

I found many podcasts that I still listen to today, Confessions of a Cleaning Business Owner, Profit Cleaners, Grow My Cleaning Business and Cleaning Business Life. Listening to other people who are currently walking through this business and have already been in my shoes was a game changer. I was able to adopt and throw out processes and mindsets which then enabled me to catapult my business in a positive direction.

Books

Speed Cleaning: an oldie but a goodie. Really helped me hone down my cleaning process to be efficient yet thorough.

I’m a Freaking Genius, Why Is This Business So Hard?: Helped me realize that this business is just HARD but can be so worth it. Because what's worth it that's easy?

Atomic Habits: Helped me understand that my daily habits greatly defined whether or not my day would be easy or hard. I had to set into motion daily habits to help me be steps ahead instead of playing catch up.

Whatever industry you're in currently, I highly recommend giving yourself a bit of time either daily, weekly or monthly to dive into some continued education. I quickly learned that there are other people that I can learn from and greatly improve my business and my mindset. Give it a try. What's the worst that can happen?
