Why the camellia flower? I get asked this often. Is that just your favorite flower or something? Not really. I like peonies more. But Peonie Cleaning Service sounds a little silly to me. Honestly, I can’t really give an explanation for why I picked camellias and how it popped into my brain. But, if I were to guess what influenced me, I grew up in Slidell, LA and Slidell is known as “Camellia City”. As you drive through town, you see camellia used often on signs and at events thrown by the city which I’m sure etched itself into my sub psyche.
When I bought my first house (in Slidell), I decided to rip out the garden beds and start from scratch. After researching ‘low upkeep plants’’, camellias popped up often. They were described as ‘resilient, sturdy, low-maintenance, drought tolerant, acid loving, beautiful and long blooming seasons’. That described the perfect plant for my first garden. I planted 8 camellia bushes and watered them, sporadic at best (I had twins and forgot about my garden for a minute), and I was so pleased with how they grew into such a beautiful plant with such little attention. Two years later they bloomed, and they were big beautiful white flowers with yellow stamen. And they smelled wonderful! After that, I was hooked on camellias. Every house I moved into, the first thing I would do is plant my camellia bushes. When I was contemplating opening up a cleaning company, Camellia Cleaning Service was the first thing that popped into my head. I guess it was just meant to be.
