When you are making an investment in something, the chances of you seeing immediate results are slim to none. It’s more of a slow drip of progress that you can only see significant gains by taking a look back and seeing how far you’ve come. Making an investment in a business feels that way. All of the income you could be making by doing it alone versus making the investment in equipment, employees, time, effort and systems is daunting. Sitting in a PJ’s Coffee House and waiting for the 20 something people you invited for interviews to maybe get 1 seems insane, but looking back over the course of the last 6 months, I went from working with just my sister to having 3 dependable employees.
As I am maneuvering through the daily commitments I have with the business, it can feel at times as if I am going nowhere, or even going backwards. Then I learn something new and I add it to my little staircase I'm building. Slowly I build a broad enough step and then take the actual step up. The staircase looks sloppy at first then I am able to come behind and learn from my mistakes, mend what needs mending and start again. Each step looks slightly different from the other but beautiful nonetheless. I imagine it looking like those Spanish tiled winding staircases. Perfectly imperfect.
